Make sure the printer is placed on a firm surface and has at least 20cm space behind the printer for paper movement. This is because as the printer goes through its four-stage printing cycle, the photo paper will rise out of the top of the printer and back in. If the paper is obstructed this could cause problems with the printing cycle or could damage your photo paper.

Connecting the Cables
Connect the power cord to the printer and then connect the controller cable to the printer. Note the direction of the arrow.

Inserting the Ribbon
Press the button on the top of the printer and open the ribbon door.

When you insert the ribbon cartridge, please make sure the Arrow is pointing upward. Hold the ribbon cartridge by the tab so that it is hanging vertically and lower it down into the ribbon slot. Then let the ribbon move down by 30 degrees and it should slide into the printer of its own accord.

Close the ribbon door.

Loading the Paper

Open the paper cassette cover and adjust the slider to match the type of paper you are using. At the front of the cartridge and to the sides are two more sliders that can be brought together to ensure 7" x 5" paper is held in place.

Remove the photo paper from the bag ensuring that you do not leave any fingerprints on the printing surface, (pick up by the perforated edges). Oils from your skin will interfere with the sublimation process causing coloured fingerprints to appear on your photos after printing.

Load the paper into the paper cassette making sure that the back side of the photo paper, (the side with the HiTi logo), is facing down.

Insert paper cassette into the printer and turn on the power.

TFT Controller

Take the controller and check if the main menu is displayed on the LCD. If you do not see a menu then check to see if the controller is connected correctly.

Check that the green LED on the bottom left of the printer is on. This indicates that your printer is ready to print your photos. If the LED is not ready please to make sure the power is connected correctly or refer to Chapter X : Troubleshooting
