Most impressed!, Apr 29, 2005
reviewer: G. Hammond from Somerset

After having some trouble trying to print from my 8.2mp camera, I was given excellent service from the staff who solved the problem. Thank you! I am very pleased with the quality of the photos in all respects. Only one or two niggles - I wish it had a carry handle and had a built-in battery for use away from a power source. I appreciate the latter could be a bit of a design problem! I should drop a star for the lack of handle but the photos are superb. {Editors Note: A carry case and 12v car adapter are available)

Almost (but not quite) perfect!, Apr 16, 2005

If you want a robust portable printer that will, in almost any
environment, produce superb prints that can be handled
immediately then this is ideal. We use it to produce and
(usually!) sell "on the spot" prints. Sales to windsurfers/surfers
(with the printer powered in a VW Camper using its 12v battery
and an inverter) and boarders/skiers (with the printer powered
from a mains supply cadged from mountain restaurant owners!)
have been very successful. We also use it to do instant prints
ABSOLUTELY ANYWHERE (mountain, sea, field, office!) for our
design, art, photography and illustration projects. This has
definitely given us an advantage when bidding for work.
Downside? The software supplied is quite obviously Windows
biased which is a shame. The Mac OSX driver download from
HiTi is less than ideal. OSX works ok but not all features are
supported - for example some stickies formats. This criticism is
not entirely fair as it's not a desk based printer at all - its
strength is its ability to print anywhere and everywhere direct
from a camera. It’s just that support for Mac laptops could be
improved.
Upside? As close to "indestructible" as we’ve ever seen. Can be
used anywhere. Superb prints you can handle “hot off the press”.
Easy to use and versatile options direct from the camera.
Accurate colour profiles mean almost no wasted prints – very
“cost effective” for the things we do.
Conclusion? Does exactly what it’s intended to do very well.
Would get five stars from us if Mac OSX compatibility were
better. Think very carefully whether this is really for you -
portability confines you to 6x4. If you’re only going to use a HiTi
printer at home this may not be the best option. But for our
needs we have never found anything better.

Barry from Rainham, Apr 15, 2005
reviewer: Barry Wilson` from Rainham, Essex

I'd never heard of this type of printer till I searched for a good price for the Epson picturemate. Having read the report on it and comparing it with this offer and other reports/reviews I thought it worth a try.
VERY impressive results and quickly too. I have an inverter so i can use this printer at any function/meeting/party etc even outside in a field! For me, it looses 1 star due to the small screen but this in no way detracts from it's performance and capabilities, after all, the screen on a lot of cameras is not a lot bigger, and really fast service from S.I. for paper etc. 1 well happy customer.

A TRUE HOME PHOTO PRINTER, Apr 13, 2005
reviewer: Wal from Hertfordshire

Is it as good as they say it is? Absolutely !!
I've only had it a week and already printed 30 fantastic photos, the quality is superb, in my opinion better than the photo lab. I took the printer to my in-laws the other day and my father-in-law, who knows much more about photography than me was so impressed he's going to order one. Even pictures taken on my 0.8 megapixel camcorder come out brilliantly. If you're in two minds over this printer (as I was) don't be, you will not be disappointed.
