I have now owned a CW-01 fro a number of years and it works out of the case every time, first time. I am really glad that I took System Insight advice and purchased this printer. Would still highly recommend this printer even with all the flashy new models about.

Over the years I have used a variety of dye sub printers, from different manufacturers, and have found this to be the best by far, not just for its amazing speed - in that it often takes longer to give clients their change than to print their pictures - but for its colour handling ability, and general picture quality. I use Spyder 3 to calibrate my monitors and printers, and the results from the CW-01 don't disappoint. Although the supplied profiles are adequate, I would suggest that personal calibration is the only way to go for truly professional results.
As an aside, clients love to watch the picture appear in front of their eyes, but with a 6"x8" print taking an astounding 15 seconds, they mustn't blink or they'll have missed it.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this printer, and, presumably, its new incarnation in the guise of the - cheaper - Olmec OP900. When setup to produce optimum results, it turns - no, positively CHURNS - out consistently high quality prints all day and night, if necessary.
Changing media takes only a few seconds, too - it takes longer to unpack the media than physically change it - so downtime on the job is kept to a minimum. Another advantage of this amazing machine, is that it utilises not one, but TWO buffer memories, which again speeds up your workflow, because you don't have to wait for one image to print before loading up another.
So, for consistent, top quality images at breakneck speed, the Citizen CW-01/Olmec OP900 should be at the top of your shopping list.

The Citizen gives me a competitive edge over other photographers due to its speed, high quality and ease of use.
We used one citizen doing a 3000 person military ball and it worked faultlessly.
The speed is awesome and multiple prints come out straight after each other.
The combination of speed and quality is awesome and compelling to my clients.

I use to use an inkjet printer for my event photography but I found it was using up the ink too quickly when printing the photos and therefore started to cost alot of money. Also the time it took to print, lost me customers. I then discoverd the Citizen CW-01 printer and have been overwelmed with the photo lab quality. Not only does it print fast, it produces a gloosy, waterproof finish and and it is cheaper to run.

Hey Stuart,
Thanks for all of your help with my last purchase (the Citizen CW-01).
After using the Mistsibushi 9550's for the last couple of years I was convinced the 9800 was going to be the only choice of upgrade.
Although the 9800 and Citizen are hardly comparible in print quality ... noise, weight and time until the printer actually starts printing are serious requirements for my business needs.
In the test session at System Insight I wasn't fully convinced that the Citizen was the right choice even after I bought it ... Mitsi's 9550 have helped grow my business and I've bought into their brand ... but today every confidence in the Citizen was gained after printing 80 prints on the CW-01 and 47 prints on the 9550 in 23-minutes ... obviously you can't compare print times but you can compare whether Citizen has built a machine rugged enough for the job.
Apart from the speed and quality of the CW-01 being at least equal to the 9800 I know that I can get two CW-01's in the boot of my smallish car and have less chance of putting my back out with them.
As soon as the 9550's have been sold I'll be coming back for more Citizens.
Sorry Mitsibushi ... but thank you!
Rob

When I first contacted System Insight about a dye sub printer I had a more obvious and recognisable product range in mind. But without pushing any product in particular SI demonstrated that there were alternatives worth considering. So I listened to the experts and took their unbaised advice. Stuart said he was willing to sell me anything, it made no difference to him, but if I wanted the best…so I bought a Citizen CW-01.
On top of all of this there is after-sales service, consumables, practical expertise (not just box pushers) and as much know-how as you can use. Why go anywhere else?

When I first connected this printer I expected all sorts of hassles before it performed, but that was not the case with this kit.
Once connected to the computer and interfaced with Picasa software (Free download! ask Stuart!) this printer just worked brilliantly. It is so easy to load the media and begin to print, literally, in a matter of seconds. Finished prints are also delivered lightning fast, and I could not believe the print quality or speed of production. The finished results are superb, far better and far quicker than any ink-jet printer. The machine is heavy so you will need a flightcase and a trolley if you are taking it to events. (System Insight supply a beauty) In operation it is noticeably noisy but it prints so quickly that the noise does not last long so it hardly matters.
In the final analysis it is the print quality that counts together with the cost of each print. The Citizen CW-01 is brilliant on both points. It is versatile in terms of print sizes up to 6x9", but if you need to print anything larger ie up to 10x8" you will require another printer. If this machine is anything to go by I will have no hesitation in buying the bigger version.
As I have written elsewhere I went to SI intending to purchase another machine. But this one was so good that, in the end, there was no contest. It had to be the Citizen CW-01.
These are my first thoughts of this kit. As I use it more in the 'real world' and gain more experience and knowledge of it I will post another review in the future. But meanwhile get down to Sysyem Insight and have a demonstration of this printer. The chances are you will come away with one!

My Clients have been amazed at the speed of processing and the quality of results from this printer. Delivering over 300 7x5 inch prints without reloading in about 14 seconds a print and capable of 9x6 inch prints in a few seconds more , the Citizen CW-01 is already proving to be a good earner. It also takes up minimal space
on a table top and the print quality is as good as my local lab. For Events, Portraits , Wedding Receptions and other functions it's a printer that I can heartily recommend.
