We have been doing charity balls and reunions for about 5 years but never School Proms until we were booked in March of this year to do 2 in early July. They both insisted on printing on the night. After the initial panic attack, I booked myself onto a 'Profit from Proms' course and realised how much I didn't know about Event Photography.
I then invested in a large TV Monitor, and a Wireless Transfer Unit for my DSLR Canon 5D MkII. I remembered I had some details of System Insight from Focus on Imaging and quickly called for advice on event printers.
I was amazed how open and honest about the different printers the Technician was, and advised that the 510Si would be the one to suit our set up the best; so I went ahead and purchased one.
We practised at a couple of low key events to see how they worked and apart from the scary noises it makes before printing out, we were very pleased with the performance.
The big test came last week with our 2 back-to-back yr 11 proms. 2 sales staff and I never stopped all evening and in the background all I could hear was the printer zipping and zapping away. Although I never got to use it in a live situation, the sales girls were really impressed with it.
Since the events, I have been inundated with sales from my website and now I have had the opportunity to have a go myself. I can now appreciate how good this little printer is.
The staff at System Insight are very approachable and most helpful. Thanks Guys.
Would I swap it? - NO thank you.
Downside: If there is one, I haven't found it yet!!!

ThatPhotoPlace.co.uk was asked, at relatively short notice...3 weeks!...to photograph the 600'ish guests at a Cinderella Ball in aid of Cancer Research UK held at the MK Dons Stadium in Milton Keynes on 30th October.
Once we'd taken a couple of deep breaths we got on the phone to System Insight, who are pretty much THE experts in this field, to get some advice on suitable printers and a workflow for this prestigious event. I was expecting Mitsubishi printers and a tethered or swapping memory card work flow but they had an alternate wireless option, the HiTi 510Si, instead and what a great solution it turned out to be!
The system piggy-backs PictBridge, allowing me to use the HiTi generic wireless transmitter with my Canon SLR's, take the typical three pictures, head, three quarter and full length, put the camera into play and send the images over PictBridge to the HiTi 510Si and then carry on shooting. The images soon start printing, ready for my team of assistants to sell, mount and bag them. Ka-ching!
We ran 2 systems in 2 different studio set-ups and were kept busy all night. This was a profitable evening for ThatPhotoPlace.co.uk and Cancer Research UK and I would certainly use the HiTi 510Si on future jobs; hiring them from System Insight of course!

I normally reside in Thailand after retiring there a short while ago and took my Mitsubishi CP9800 with me. However while back in the Uk for a few weeks I picked up another job and always keen to make money but I had no equipment as mine was 5,000 miles away!
I popped into see the guys at System Insight with a view to hiring another CP9800 to do my event but noticed the new HiTi 510Si with a HiTi wireless transmitter. The guys offered to rent it to me and they set up it all up for me with my Nikon.
On the evening, things went like a dream I took three shots of each couple and the printer printed them almost instantly. With the prints in the customer hands within seconds there were very few couples that refused to buy them.
Although I thought I knew all there was to event photography, I have say this was the easiest and most profitable way to make money that i have known in 18 years of photography.
The printer also seemed much lighter than my Mitsubishi and without even needing a laptop it was much easier to use.
First class bit of equipment and maybe a replacement for my CP9800.
BIG THANKS again to the guys at System Insight
