Dye Sublimation Photo Printers use two consumables: A film ribbon and photo paper. These are nearly always usually supplied together.
The majority of Dye Sub Photo Printers use Roll Fed Media although some models use sheet fed paper. These are usually matched so the ribbon and paper will produce a fixed number of prints per ribbon. This is shown on the outside of the box and will always yield the number of images specified regardless of what is printed on the paper.
Some manufacturers will supply two ribbons and two rolls of paper in a box whilst other supply only one. This is of course reflected accordingly in the price.
Dye Sub Media can be usually changed part way through, although unused media should be kept in the orginal box away from dust.
