Features  in  detail

Core  compositing  features

PhotoKey  4,  PhotoKey  4  Pro  and  PhotoKey  4  Plug-in  all  include  the  core  functionality  required   for  processing  and  compositing  green  screen  photographs:

  • Automatic  green  screen  removal  detects  whether  the  image  features  a  blue  screen  or   green  screen  and  processes  it  appropriately.  The  user  can  then  apply  manual   adjustments  if  needed.
  • Spill  suppression  lessens  or  removes  unwanted  colour  spill,  improving  the  overall   compositing  quality  of  an  image.

Filters  and  effects

PhotoKey  4  and  PhotoKey  4  Pro  both  contain  a  selection  of  standard  colour  filters  so  that   photographers  can adjust  their  foreground  and background  images  to  ensure  convincing  and   realistic  composites.

Layers

Additional image layers can be positioned in any order either below or on top of the green screen foreground. These additional layers recognise images containing alpha transparency, enabling the creation of more sophisticated composites.

Practical uses include:

  • Adding custom 'props' to the composite.
  • Creating more realistic depth to the image
  • An effective way to 'clone' your original green screen subject. PhotoKey_4_Layers.jpg
  • Add frames or watermarks to the image.

Masks, overlays and text

PhotoKey 4 and PhotoKey 4 Pro both include features for masking the foreground layer and applying overlays and text.

  • Masks can be drawn directly onto the workspace to manually remove or retain areas of the foreground image. This can be used for visual effects purposes (creating the illusion of the foreground passing behind an object in the background image, for example) or to fix compositing issues.
  • The overlay sits on top of the foreground, background and custom layers. this can be used to apply imagery such as a company logo or watermark, a decorative border or a magazine overlay.
  • Text can be added to the composite, with full control over colour, font, position, rotation and scale.

Automatic batch processing

PhotoKey 4 Pro can process multiple foreground images at a time, enabling photographers to improve their workflow efficiency when working on large projects.

Images can be treated globally, so that adjusting settings will affect all images, or on a case-by-case basis.

The 'hot folder' system monitors and syncs to a specified folder, automatically processing and exporting images as they appear, which is ideal for event photography.
