One of the cheapest and easiest routes to producing ID and Passport photos is with the HiTi S420 photo printer. This is a small but powerful printer producing 6x4" prints which will accommodate a variety of ID and Passport formats satisfying the demand of several different countries.

Although the printer can be used via a USB link to a laptop, its major benefit is the ability to be used 'stand alone' where all functions can be accessed and used via a hand-controller with a 2.5" LCD colour display.
The printer's low cost, small size and ease of use make it an ideal tool for providing an economic ID and Passport service.
Using the printer for ID and Passport photos - 'Stand Alone'
This is the easiest and most straightforward way to produce ID and Passport photos on the HiTi S420

Having taken the photos on your camera, the first step is to remove the memory card and insert it into the appropriate card-reader slot on the front of the printer.
The ID Photo function is accessed via the hand controller by navigating to the ID Photo icon in the top-right hand corner of the display. Pressing the 'OK' button selects this function and takes you to the ID format page. Navigating to the required format and then pressing the 'OK' button again will take you to the layout page. Depending on the layout selected, you can now highlight the columns where your images will be placed and pressing the 'OK' button will allow you to view the images from your camera card for selection.
Once you have selected the image you want - by using the navigation arrows and clicking 'OK' - you are given the option to make several adjustments to the image including resizing and moving. The hand controller has 'biometric' markings to aid positioning the image correctly. Once this is done, navigate to the 'ok' option on the display and click the 'OK' button to take you to the print screen. Pressing the 'PRINT' button on the hand controller starts the printing sequence.
To avoid taking the card out of the camera, you can also take the photo, connect the camera by a suitable USB lead to the USB socket on the front of the printer then follow the steps above. The printer will accept the camera as a 'card reader'.
Using the printer for ID and Passport photos - computer connected
The HiTi S420 can also be used to print ID and Passport photos connected to a Windows or Mac laptop or PC.
The printer comes with its own ID and Passport editing software, 'IDesir
ee', which allows you to chose from many built-in ID layouts as well as the ability to design your own proprietary sizes. Alternatively, you can also use any ID & Passport Photo Software such as IdPhoto Pro4 (Windows only but compatible with XP, Vista and Windows 7) which will give you powerful tools for a more efficient workflow.
Using the printer connected to a computer allows you to correct any defects in the original photo as well as optimising the image for the final print.
