DNP Media & Parts Discontinued: Make the Switch to Citizen
DNP has announced it will discontinue media supplies and certain spare parts for its DS40 and DS80 printers in early 2026. While this may raise concerns for photographers who rely on these popular models, there’s a straightforward solution.
Though the DS40 and DS80 use DNP-specific media, the printers themselves are manufactured by Citizen and are essentially identical to Citizen’s CX02 and CX02W models. This means photographers can upgrade to Citizen printers without worrying about workflow disruptions, or print quality. Citizen supplies remain fully available and supported.
DNP’s discontinuation of media and spare parts will be a concerning time for users, but the equivalency of the printers makes transitioning relatively simple. Event studios, wedding photographers, and photo booth operators can continue producing high-quality prints with minimal disruption by switching to Citizen’s printers and supplies.
While spare parts for the DNP-branded models will no longer be produced, Citizen’s models provide a reliable, long-term alternative, ensuring studios can maintain operations without interruptions.
Photographers are encouraged to plan ahead, secure any critical DNP media if needed, and explore Citizen printers as a future-proof replacement.
